State Judicial Leaders Engage with Local Court Officials in Woodward |
Chief Justice Dustin Rowe and Justice Travis Jett of the Oklahoma Supreme Court visited the Woodward County Courthouse on January 5, 2025.
Their visit underscored the essential role of local court staff in the administration of justice.
This engagement highlights the connection between state judicial leadership and local court operations.
During the visit, they met with District Judge Justin P. Eilers and Associate District Judge Erin Kirksey, both of whom preside over cases in Woodward County.
The discussions focused on the challenges and successes of the local judiciary.
Justice Jett, a fourth-generation Oklahoman from northwest Oklahoma, was appointed to the Supreme Court by Governor Kevin Stitt in April 2025.
He was sworn in by Chief Justice Rowe on June 23, 2025.
His deep roots in the community bring a unique perspective to the state's highest court.
Chief Justice Rowe emphasized the importance of such visits to strengthen the relationship between the Supreme Court and local courts.
He stated, "Engaging directly with our local courts allows us to better understand their needs and challenges, ensuring that we can provide the necessary support for the effective administration of justice across Oklahoma."
The visit also served as an opportunity to express appreciation for the dedication and hard work of the local court staff.
