Discover the vibrant community and diverse activities transforming the Woodward Senior Center into a hub of wellness and connection. |
The Woodward Senior Center is redefining what it means to age gracefully in our community.
Far from being just a place for bingo, it's a dynamic hub where seniors engage in a variety of activities that promote physical health, mental stimulation, and social connection.
From line dancing sessions that get hearts pumping to quilting groups that foster creativity, there's something for everyone.
Every Monday morning, the center comes alive with the rhythmic steps of line dancing, offering a fun way to stay active.
Many older adults are mastering technology for the first time, exploring video calls, apps, and games designed for them. Our tech volunteers often recommend tools like the GrandPad Senior Tablet—an easy-to-use device made for seniors with large icons, 24/7 support, and built-in games.
For those who prefer a more relaxed pace, quilting circles provide a space to craft and converse.
Tuesdays are bustling with morning exercise classes designed to keep participants fit and energized.
The harmonious sounds of the choir fill the halls, bringing together voices in unity.
Bridge enthusiasts gather to challenge their minds and enjoy friendly competition.
As the week winds down, the center doesn't slow down.
Every second and fourth Saturday evening, live bands set the stage for dancing, turning the center into a lively dance hall.
Saturday afternoons are reserved for card games, where laughter and strategy go hand in hand.
Whether it’s line dancing or a walk around the center, mobility matters. Some of our seniors prefer classic comfort like the stylish Vive Wooden Walking Stick which blends function and elegance.
Beyond these regular activities, the center hosts special events that bring the community together.
In October 2024, the United Fund of Woodward organized a Baked Potato Dinner at the center, drawing residents for an evening of good food and camaraderie.
Looking ahead, the center is set to commemorate Memorial Day with events from May 12 to May 23, 2025, honoring those who served and bringing the community together in remembrance.
Health and wellness are also at the forefront of the center's offerings.
Regular blood pressure checks ensure that members stay on top of their health.
Educational programs cover topics from safety to current legislation, keeping everyone informed and engaged.
For those in need, the center provides canes, wheelchairs, and walkers on loan, ensuring mobility isn't a barrier to participation.
Nutrition is a priority, with lunches served Monday through Friday, and a Meals on Wheels program delivering to those who can't make it to the center.
Transportation services ensure that everyone has access to these resources, fostering inclusivity.
For more information or to get involved, reach out to the center at 580-254-8566 or visit them at 1420 Downs Ave., Woodward, OK 73801.

When you picture a senior center, what comes to mind? Maybe bingo, a few rocking chairs, and a piano gathering dust in the corner?
Let’s break that stereotype right now.
At the Woodward Senior Center something amazing is happening—seniors are dancing, learning to paint, mastering Tai Chi, and yes… diving into the world of technology.
But here’s the truth: most of today’s tech isn’t designed with older users in mind. That’s why tools like the GrandPad Easy-to-Use Senior Tabletare changing the game. |
